McCarthy’s Orchard in McLaren Vale

McCarthy’s Orchard:

As a Horticulturist, my wife Lisa and I had been looking for the ‘right’ property to buy in Mclaren Vale for a number of years.

In early 2008 we couldn’t believe our luck when we were able to find a mixed farm with crops such as apples, pears, stonefruit, and cherries. Incredibly the farm also grew Shiraz and Cabernet grapes, most of which are 50 years old.

As many old plantings had been pulled out during the government-funded vine pull in the 80’s this appeared too good to be true and we were quickly the owners of this amazing property.

Our farm is situated on the foothills of McLaren Vale. It has a very unique micro-climate with refreshing gully winds that run along the hills in the summer and the maritime influence of the sea that protects us from damaging frosts in the spring.

CELLAR DOOR

Set within our orchard estate, the cellar door in McLaren Vale is a spot to come and enjoy our wines and local produce.

Whether you choose to sample our wines or cider, or just fancy a coffee, we have something for everyone.

Kids will enjoy the outdoor space, with rope swing and boat to play in.

McCarthy's Orchard

Willunga Farmers Market

Willunga Farmers Market was set up to provide a venue for small producers to sell their finest and freshest first-quality food the region has to offer, direct to customers. It was a giant leap of faith by producers and customers alike and it is now a celebrated success story of grassroots, sustainable and economic development.

We are there every Saturday, from 8am to 12.30pm.
